Arrest after woman grabbed by knife-wielding man in Cannock

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was reportedly grabbed by a man brandishing a knife on Shoal Hill Common in Cannock, Staffordshire. The incident occurred at around 2:30pm on Monday, June 29, when the woman was approached by the suspect who attempted to grab her. Fortunately, she managed to escape uninjured and alerted the police.

Arrest and Investigation

Staffordshire Police confirmed that a 40-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap. He remains in custody for questioning. A force spokesperson said: "A man has been arrested after a woman was approached by a man with a knife on Shoal Hill Common yesterday. We received a report at 2.30pm that a woman had been approached by a man with a knife. The man then attempted to grab the woman. The woman was not injured."

Appeal for Witness

Police are appealing for a dog walker who may have been in the area at the time to come forward. The witness is described as a white man in his 60s, of slim build, clean-shaven, wearing a dark coloured jacket and a brown or green flat cap. He was walking a Staffordshire Bull Terrier with a tanned coloured coat. The spokesperson added: "We are looking to identify a dog walker who we think may have been in the area at the time that could help us with our enquiries."
