Birmingham's Most Dangerous Areas Revealed in Latest Crime Data Analysis
Thousands of offences were recorded across Birmingham last year, with new police data highlighting the city's most dangerous places to live. Analysis of the latest crime statistics allows residents to identify high-risk neighbourhoods and understand the major issues affecting their communities.
High Crime Areas Dominate Inner City
Unsurprisingly, inner-city areas top the crime list. Lozells and East Handsworth, along with Aston, remain statistically the most dangerous parts of Birmingham. These areas, along with South Yardley, were the only neighbourhoods to record over 2,000 violent and sexual offences in the 12 months to December. Historically plagued by gang violence and criminal disputes, they continue to face significant challenges.
Stockland Green and Acocks Green also feature prominently on the crime list, indicating ongoing safety concerns. In contrast, areas of Sutton Coldfield boast the lowest offending rates, offering a stark comparison to the city's crime hotspots.
Common Crimes Across Birmingham
Violent and sexual offences are the most prevalent crimes in every area, encompassing a wide range of incidents from murder and robbery to rape and domestic violence. Other frequent issues on Birmingham streets include:
- Criminal damage and arson
- Vehicle crime
- Shoplifting
- Antisocial behaviour
Despite these figures, police report that crime is falling across the West Midlands region overall.
