Father's Harrowing Warning After Family Dog Fatally Attacks Teenage Daughter
A heartbroken father has issued an urgent warning to all pet owners following the tragic death of his 19-year-old daughter, who was killed in a sudden attack by the family's own dog. Jamie-Lea Biscoe lost her life after being bitten by the family pet, a seven-year-old lurcher named Shy, inside their home in Leaden Roding, Essex.
Discovery of the Tragic Incident
Jack, the 37-year-old father, discovered his daughter on the floor of his bedroom with a severe bite wound to her neck upon returning home from an evening out. Despite immediately beginning CPR in a desperate attempt to save her, Jamie-Lea was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services who arrived around 10.45pm on Friday.
The family had owned Shy since she was a seven-week-old puppy, with Jack describing the dog as his daughter's "best friend" who would regularly sleep on her bed. He emphasized that this was not an attack by a breed typically associated with aggression, stating his daughter was "not killed by an XL Bully, she was killed by a genuine family dog."
Violent Turn During Rescue Attempt
During Jack's frantic efforts to resuscitate his daughter, the family pet unexpectedly turned on him, biting off part of his ear in the violent confrontation. This shocking development occurred despite the dog having no previous history of aggression or attacks toward people during its seven years with the family.
In a sobering message to fellow pet owners, Jack told The Sun: "I thought I could trust that dog with my life and it took my daughter's life." His warning highlights the unpredictable nature of animal behavior, even with pets considered completely trustworthy family members.

Following the tragic incident, Jack was arrested by Essex Police on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death. He was released on bail Saturday night as investigations continue.
Police seized all three dogs from the property, including Shy and her two puppies who were reportedly downstairs during the attack. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper addressed the community impact, stating: "I know this incident will be a shock to the local community.
