Police Dog Leads Armed Officers to Multiple Arrests

Armed police officers raced to a park in Solihull on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, culminating in four arrests and the recovery of two large zombie knives. The incident unfolded in Shirley Park, located off the Stratford Road in Shirley, after authorities received multiple calls reporting a group of people acting suspiciously.

The response was swift, with officers who had just been at the scene of a reported stabbing immediately diverting to the park. Upon the arrival of the police, the group allegedly fled the area, prompting a search operation.

Kane the Police Dog Proves Invaluable

A police dog named Kane played a pivotal role in the successful operation. The canine first assisted in detaining one male suspect who was attempting to escape. Kane then led his handler towards another individual, which resulted in two men being apprehended by the firearms unit on a nearby street.

The teamwork did not end there. As officers walked back through the park, the police dog steered his handler through some bushes, where two more suspects were discovered hiding in the undergrowth.

Multiple Offences and a Successful Conclusion

In a statement, West Midlands Police confirmed the outcome of the operation: "In total, four people [were] taken into custody, with two large zombie knives recovered, and arrests for multiple different offences being dealt with by our CID department."

The force praised the collaborative effort, describing it as "Great team work" between the armed officers, the police dog unit, and the CID. The incident highlights the ongoing efforts by police to tackle serious violence and weapon-related crime in the community.
