Police in Birmingham are urgently investigating a hit-and-run collision in Harborne that has left a pensioner fighting for her life.

Critical Condition Following Late-Night Incident

The incident occurred on Wentworth Road at approximately 10:15 pm on Tuesday, November 4. The victim, a woman believed to be in her 70s, was walking when she was struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene.

Emergency services rushed the woman to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A week after the collision, authorities confirm she remains in a critical condition.

Arrest and Charges in the Investigation

Following enquiries, West Midlands Police arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with the serious incident.

The man was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
  • Possession of a knife
  • Possession of class A drugs

A quantity of Class A drugs and a knife were recovered during a search. The suspect has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Appeal for Information and Key Vehicle

Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance. They believe a red Ford Focus was involved in the collision.

Police are particularly keen to obtain any CCTV or dash cam footage from the area around the time of the incident.
