In a major operation that has struck a significant blow against organised crime, West Midlands Police have uncovered a sophisticated cannabis factory containing more than 1,000 plants at an industrial unit in Wolverhampton.
Industrial-Scale Operation Uncovered
The discovery was made during a proactive raid on a commercial property in the Bushbury area, where officers found the premises had been completely transformed into an extensive cannabis cultivation site. The operation was of such scale that it required specialist teams to safely dismantle the sophisticated growing equipment and remove the substantial haul of controlled substances.
Dangerous Modifications Revealed
Police revealed that the unit had undergone significant and dangerous modifications to facilitate the illegal operation. The electrical supply had been dangerously bypassed, creating serious fire hazards that posed risks not only to those involved in the criminal enterprise but also to neighbouring properties and emergency responders.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson stated: "This was a sophisticated set-up capable of producing significant quantities of cannabis. The electrical bypass alone created enormous dangers, and removing this operation makes our community considerably safer."

While no arrests were made during the initial raid, the investigation remains active as detectives pursue multiple lines of enquiry. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify those responsible for establishing and running the extensive cultivation operation.
