A 33-year-old man has been arrested after a 78-year-old woman died following a collision with a car outside a popular Worcester pub.
Tragic Incident Outside The Bull Inn
The fatal incident occurred on Droitwich Road in Fernhill Heath, Worcester, at approximately 5.50pm on Saturday, November 30. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle close to the entrance of The Bull Inn pub.
Despite the immediate efforts of emergency services, the woman's injuries proved fatal. She was pronounced dead at the scene, with paramedics unable to save her despite administering advanced life support.
Emergency Services' Response
West Mercia Police confirmed they were called to the location at around 5.55pm following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
A significant emergency service presence attended, including:
- Two ambulances
- A paramedic officer
- The Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car from Strensham
Upon arrival, crews found the woman in a critical condition. Police officers were already providing basic life support before ambulance staff took over with more advanced medical care.
Man Remains in Police Custody
In connection with the woman's death, a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was taken into police custody and remained there throughout Sunday, December 1.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service stated: "Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
