Man critical after park attack in Dublin as police launch manhunt

A man is fighting for his life after being horrifically attacked in a park, as police appeal for information. The incident occurred in Coolock, Dublin on May 20, where the victim was found unresponsive.

According to reports, shortly after 6pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a report of a man found unresponsive at Clonshaugh Park, Dublin 17. The attack is believed to have taken place in Belcamp Park, near the Clonshaugh Park entrance closest to Clonshaugh Lawn.

The man, aged in his 50s, was rushed to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His condition remains critical, and the scene was preserved for technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Coolock are investigating following report of an alleged serious assault of a male, in Coolock, Dublin 17 on the evening of Wednesday, 20 May.”

They added: “Anyone who was in the vicinity of the Clonshaugh Park entrance to Belcamp Park, or Clonshaugh Drive, Coolock, Dublin 17, during the hours of 5:30pm and 6:30pm on Wednesday, 20 May 2026 and who may have camera footage—including dash-cam footage—is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.”

“In particular, Gardaí are appealing to people who may have been exercising in Belcamp Park at the time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coolock Garda Station on (01) 666 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
