The Birmingham community has been united in grief following the tragic death of a man in Sutton Park on Sunday, November 23.
Early Morning Discovery in Sutton Park
West Midlands Police were called to the popular park at 5.55am this morning after a man was discovered unresponsive. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
A police presence was established near the Jamboree Stone, close to the Streetly Gate entrance, where a blue forensic tent was erected. A cordon was also put in place, enclosing an area of woodland and open space as officers conducted their initial investigations.
Police Statement and Community Response
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police provided official confirmation, stating: "Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not currently being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
Highlighting the force's commitment to public concern, the spokesperson added that officers would remain in the park throughout the day to 'offer reassurance to the community.' The police cordon and tent have since been removed.
