A Hereford man has been sentenced to prison after authorities discovered his extensive collection of extreme right-wing music containing lyrics that breach terrorism laws.
Massive collection of illegal recordings
Norbert Gyurcsik, 48, of Kestrel Road in Hereford, was found to be in possession of more than 2,000 records that he was actively buying and selling across the UK and Europe. The recordings contained material intended to incite racial hatred and violated terrorism legislation.
West Mercia Police arrested Gyurcsik in May last year following an investigation into his activities. The operation revealed he was not only collecting but also distributing albums with extreme content that promoted racial division.
Court proceedings and sentencing
Gyurcsik pleaded guilty to three charges at Worcester Crown Court on October 3, including one count of distributing recordings and two counts of possessing illegal recordings. The formal sentencing took place on Thursday, November 27.
Judge at Worcester Crown Court handed down a sentence of 40 months for each offence, with the terms to be served concurrently. This means the 48-year-old will spend approximately three years in prison for his crimes.
Police statement on counter-terrorism
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police emphasised the importance of public vigilance in combating terrorist threats. "Every year, thousands of reports from the public help police tackle the terrorist threat," they stated.
The police urged citizens to report suspicious content through official channels: "If you see or hear something that doesn't seem right, trust your instincts and ACT by reporting to police in confidence at gov.uk/ACT. Reporting won't ruin lives, but it could save them."
They reminded the public that in emergency situations, always dial 999 for immediate assistance.
