Man Left 'Looking Dead' After Brutal Pub Attack in Stourbridge
A man has recounted how he was left 'looking dead' following a violent assault outside a Black Country pub, with his partner initially believing he had been killed in the brutal attack.
Violent Altercation Outside The Stourbridge Lion
Brandon Carpenter, a 31-year-old man, was enjoying a drink at The Stourbridge Lion pub when he became involved in an argument with another individual nearby. The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation at approximately 7pm on Thursday, January 15.
Speaking about the traumatic experience, Brandon told local media: "I was smoking outside the pub with my partner when my partner started to walk over to the pub opposite and began having a conversation."
Phone Snatched and Repeated Assault
As tensions rose during the interaction, Brandon began recording the incident on his mobile phone. "The man snatched my phone out of my hand and he got me up against the wall, smashing my head against the wall a few times, as well as constantly punching me in the face," Brandon described.
The assault continued as Brandon fell to the ground: "I remember being on the floor when I got punched and he was over me and about to punch me more until my partner managed to kick his arm away from hitting me."
Partner's Terrifying Moment of Fear
The violence left Brandon in such a state that his partner genuinely feared for his life. "At one point, my partner thought I was dead and that I was on the floor covered in blood, eyes open but not responding for about 10 seconds before he picked me up and dragged me across into The Stourbridge Lion for safety!" Brandon revealed.
The attack resulted in significant injuries requiring medical attention. Brandon suffered a split lip that needed stitches along with bruising to his head from the repeated impacts against the wall.

Living in Fear After the Attack
Since the violent incident, Brandon and his partner have experienced ongoing anxiety and fear for their safety. "Since the incident, we have all been made to feel very on edge, scared and anxious," Brandon explained.
The situation has been compounded by threatening communications: "I got a call from a private number and the person on the phone stated that I am a 'grass', I've messed with the wrong firm and that they are gonna 'do me'. I've told the police this but they haven't linked this to the incident at the moment."
Brandon has taken additional security measures in response: "I've been watching CCTV cameras at my home every night and day now and bought a security alarm."
