Three Midlands Men Sentenced to Prison After £37,200 Cocaine Discovery on M6

A trio of Midlands men have been handed significant prison sentences after police uncovered a substantial quantity of cocaine valued at £37,200 during a routine traffic stop on the M6 motorway. The class A drugs were discovered concealed within the trousers of one defendant as he exited the motorway near Stoke-on-Trent.

Organized Drug Collection Operation Unravels

Brandon Williams, aged 31 with no fixed address, orchestrated a drug collection operation that involved his younger brother Ricky Williams traveling to Coventry to meet with Daniel Murphy. Brandon Williams provided his brother with specific meeting details and a postcode location to facilitate the handover of the illicit substances.

Ricky Williams, residing on Roundway in Blurton, successfully collected the package containing 246 grams of cocaine with an exceptional 96 percent purity level. However, his journey back to Stoke-on-Trent was interrupted when police officers conducted a traffic stop as he exited the M6 at junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent South.

Immediate Confession and Additional Findings

During the police encounter, Ricky Williams immediately confessed to officers that he was carrying cocaine in his trousers. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed additional cannabis, classified as a class B drug. The cocaine's potential street value was estimated at £37,200 if sold in half-gram portions, according to police drug experts who testified at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Chloe Rhodes, of Louise Drive in Blurton, who was present in the vehicle with Ricky Williams, received a two-year suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to involvement in supplying both class A and class B drugs between specific dates in 2024.

Significant Prison Sentences Imposed

Judge Richard McConaghy presided over the sentencing, emphasizing the organized nature of the drug operation and the substantial value of the confiscated cocaine. Ricky Williams received a 45-month prison term after admitting to possession of class A and class B drugs with intent to supply.

Brandon Williams, who admitted to facilitating the drug transaction, was also sentenced to 45 months in prison. Daniel Murphy, of Westwood Road in Coventry, received the longest sentence of five years and six months after pleading guilty to involvement in drug supply operations.

Defense Arguments and Judicial Remarks

During sentencing proceedings, defense attorney Paul Dhami argued that Murphy's involvement represented a relapse into previous criminal behavior, describing it as a decision his client deeply regretted after making positive life changes. Judge McConaghy highlighted the coordinated nature of the offense, noting that Brandon Williams organized the collection while remaining in Stoke, while Murphy physically handed over the significant quantity of high-value cocaine in Coventry.

The case underscores ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking operations in the Midlands region, particularly along major transportation corridors like the M6 motorway that connects multiple urban centers.
