Petrol-Soaked Firelighter Pushed Through Birmingham Letterbox

Detectives are conducting inquiries after a firelighter 'doused in petrol' was shoved through the letterbox of a family home in Kingstanding, Birmingham. The alarming incident occurred at a residence on Hartley Road at approximately 4:30 pm on Friday, May 29.

An anonymous online post stated that the firelighter was pushed through the letterbox of the poster's 66-year-old father. The poster wrote on Facebook: 'This person went to my dad's house today. We believe he had the wrong house. My dad is 66-years-old and very vulnerable.' They claimed: 'The person put a firelighter doused in petrol through the letterbox and attempted to light it, but failed. The police are involved but we do not know this person at all.'

Police Investigation

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting enquiries in the area. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: 'We're investigating after a firelighter was pushed through a letterbox in Hartley Road, Kingstanding, at around 4.30pm on May 29. We're reviewing CCTV in the area as part of our enquiries.'
