Police have launched a manhunt after a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Telford in broad daylight. The incident occurred on a pathway between the underpass near Laburnum Road and Stafford Road between 3.30pm and 4pm on Thursday, May 28.
Suspect Description
West Mercia Police described the suspect as a white male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, with an average build. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack.
Police Appeal
Detective Inspector Catherine Taylor said: “We understand how an incident of this nature will cause concern for the local community. Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since Thursday to identify the man responsible. We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area on Thursday afternoon and may have seen the suspect in the moments before or after the incident. If you were travelling in the area in a vehicle with a dash-cam, we would like to see that footage to see if it captures a potential suspect. Detectives are continuing with their enquiries, and the public can expect to see an increased police presence.”
A force spokesperson added: “Officers are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Telford on Thursday. Between 3.30pm and 4pm, on the path between the underpass near Laburnum Road and Stafford Road, a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown man. The suspect is described as white, around 5’9” tall of an average build and was wearing dark clothing. Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident and officers are now appealing for witnesses.”
