Police in Nottinghamshire are appealing for the public's help to identify a man after a teenage girl was subjected to what officers have described as 'completely unacceptable' behaviour in Kimberley.
Incident Details: From Supermarket to Street
The unsettling episode began inside the Sainsbury's supermarket on Greens Lane. The 16-year-old victim reported becoming aware of a man who was staring at her intently while she was shopping.
Feeling uneasy, the schoolgirl left the store, but the situation escalated shortly after. The same man then approached her outside the nearby Card Factory shop. According to police reports, the individual began paying the teenager unwanted compliments, which left her feeling profoundly 'scared' and 'intimidated'.
The encounter grew more alarming when the man inquired about where she lived and began discussing a property he owned. The incident only came to an end when a vigilant shop worker intervened, prompting the man to flee the scene.
Police Investigation and Public Appeal
The harassment occurred at approximately 3pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025. It was reported to Nottinghamshire Police the same day, and officers have since been pursuing several lines of inquiry.
Investigating officer PC Olivia Pettitt stated: "This behaviour is completely unacceptable and made the girl feel scared and intimidated. We take all reports of harassment and intimidation extremely seriously."
In a bid to advance the investigation, police have now released a CCTV image of a man they believe may have vital information. PC Pettitt added: "We really need the public’s help. We have released an image of a man that could help us further our investigation."
How You Can Help
Officers are directly appealing to the man in the image or anyone who recognises him to make contact. The force is asking: "Do you know the man in the image? Are you the man in the image? Please get in touch with us as soon as possible."
