Nottingham Predator Receives Extended 20-Year Sentence for Serial Rape Offences

A dangerous sex offender from Nottingham has been handed an extended 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping two women in separate attacks over a 15-month period. Omran Ahmed, aged 37, committed his second rape while on bail awaiting trial for the first assault, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of women.

First Attack and Police Investigation

The initial rape occurred on December 20, 2023, at a property located in Sneinton, Nottingham. During this horrific incident, Ahmed not only raped his victim but also subjected her to repeated punches to the face, resulting in additional charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. When first interviewed by Nottinghamshire Police, Ahmed outright denied any sexual contact with the woman.

However, several months later, investigators presented him with irrefutable DNA evidence linking him to the crime. Faced with this damning proof, Ahmed changed his story, claiming he had been asleep and had no memory of the events. Despite the serious nature of the charges, he appeared before a Crown Court judge and was subsequently released on bail as he awaited trial.

Second Assault While on Bail

While free on bail, Ahmed launched another attack. On March 20, 2025, he raped a second woman at a property in Forest Fields, Nottingham. The victim had been introduced to Ahmed by a mutual friend, according to police statements. This time, authorities acted swiftly, and Ahmed was immediately remanded into custody following the report of the second assault.

Trial and Sentencing

A trial was held at Nottingham Crown Court in September of last year, where jurors found Ahmed guilty of raping both women. In February 2026, he was sentenced to an extended 20-year term. This sentence comprises 15 years in custody followed by an additional five years on extended licence, reflecting the court's assessment of him as a continued danger to the public.

Police Condemnation and Victim Bravery

Detective Constable Alexander Terry of Nottinghamshire Police strongly condemned Ahmed's actions. "Ahmed is an opportunist predator who poses a clear and obvious danger to women," DC Terry stated. "During his first offence he forced himself on a woman who believed him to be a friend, before lying repeatedly to the police about what had happened. Seemingly untroubled by the police investigation into his first offence, Ahmed launched a second and highly opportunistic assault on a woman he’d only just met."

The detective also paid tribute to the courage of the two survivors. "As he begins a very long and richly deserved jail sentence, I would like to thank both the women in this case for their bravery and cooperation during what has been a very traumatic experience for both of them," he added. Ahmed, whose address was given as Ilkeston Road in Nottingham, will now serve his lengthy sentence behind bars.
