Serial Shoplifter Handed Two-Year Ban from Major Retailers

A notorious shoplifter from Kidderminster has been prohibited from entering a Tesco Express, a Matalan store, and the entire Weavers Wharf Shopping Park under a strict Criminal Behaviour Order. Tommy Raymond, aged 37, received the ban following his appearance at Kidderminster Magistrates Court last Friday, February 6.

Details of the Criminal Behaviour Order

The order explicitly bars Raymond from the Tesco Express located on Stourbridge Road, the Matalan at Park Butts Ringway, and any shop or premises within the Weavers Wharf Shopping Park, all situated in Kidderminster. Additionally, the CBO extends to the grounds and car park of Weavers Wharf, ensuring comprehensive exclusion from these retail areas.

Police have described Raymond as a well-known shoplifter in the town centre, whose actions have significantly impacted local retailers and the public. PC Richard Clayton of the Kidderminster town centre team emphasized that this measure aims to protect the stores he has frequently targeted and reassure businesses that retail crime is being taken seriously.

Police Statement and Public Appeal

PC Clayton stated, "Raymond is a well-known shoplifter around the town centre whose actions have impacted retailers and members of the public. We hope this CBO will serve to protect the stores he has prolifically targeted and help reassure businesses that we continue to take retail crime seriously. Raymond’s behaviour towards staff and members of the public will not be tolerated, and we will seek to continue to bring offenders to justice."

The public is urged to report any sightings of Raymond at the banned locations by calling 101 or using the West Mercia Police website's report section. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

This two-year ban underscores the ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat retail crime and safeguard community spaces in Kidderminster.
