Sixth arrest over serious Leicester city centre assault

Detectives investigating a violent city centre assault that left a young man fighting for his life have made a sixth arrest.

Victim Remains in Critical Condition

The victim, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured during an incident on Horsefair Street in Leicester in the early hours of Saturday, November 30. The attack occurred at around 5am.

Over three weeks later, he remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition, receiving treatment for serious head injuries.

Ongoing Police Investigation

Leicestershire Police confirmed that a 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday, December 22, on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

This latest detention brings the total number of arrests connected to the case to six. The five other men previously arrested also remain on bail.

Detective Sergeant Adrian Davies, from the force's Complex Investigation Team, stated: “Our investigation to establish exactly what happened during this incident remains ongoing and as part of our ongoing enquiries we have made a further arrest.”

Appeal for Witnesses to Come Forward

Officers have carried out extensive inquiries but believe there may still be people with information who have not yet spoken to them.

DS Davies added: “The victim in this incident remains in an extremely serious condition in hospital so it is vital that we continue to work to piece together the events... If you were there, please contact us.”

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the assault or was in the Horsefair Street area at the time to come forward immediately.
