A man and a woman have sustained potentially serious injuries following a collision between an electric bike and a car in Smethwick. The incident occurred on High Street shortly before 11:30 PM on Tuesday, June 2.
Emergency Response
Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, and a MERIT trauma team were dispatched to the scene. Medics provided trauma care at the roadside before transporting the patients to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further treatment.
Police Investigation
The driver of the car remained at the scene and is cooperating with West Midlands Police. A police spokesperson stated: 'We were called to High Street, Smethwick just after 11:25 PM last night to reports of a collision between an electric bike and a vehicle. A man and a woman, who were riding the e-bike, were taken to hospital for treatment. Thankfully their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.'
Ambulance Service Statement
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: 'When ambulance crews arrived on scene they found a man and a woman who had been injured after reportedly falling off an e-scooter following a collision with a car. Both patients sustained potentially serious injuries and received trauma care on scene before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further treatment. The driver of the car was uninjured.'
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
