Airport Arrest in Ongoing Terror Investigation
Counter-terrorism officers have made a significant new arrest in connection with the devastating attack on a Manchester synagogue. A 31-year-old man was detained at Manchester Airport on Thursday, November 27, after arriving on an inbound flight.
He was arrested on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism and remains in custody for questioning. This development brings the total number of arrests in this investigation to seven.
Recalling the October Attack
The arrest is linked to the horrific incident that took place at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Thursday, October 2. The attacker, Jihad Al Shamie, carried out an assault that resulted in the deaths of two men: Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz.
Three other men sustained serious injuries and were treated in hospital. Authorities have confirmed that two of these victims have since been released from hospital care.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Information
Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts of Counter Terrorism Policing North West confirmed that the families of the deceased and the injured have been informed of this latest arrest. He described the synagogue attack as "appalling" and reiterated the force's commitment to the ongoing investigation.
ACC Potts issued a fresh appeal to the public, stating: "We are also still seeking to identify and speak to anyone who was present at the time of the incident or the immediate aftermath." He emphasised the importance of ensuring witnesses have access to welfare support.

In a related development, a 30-year-old man arrested on October 9 on suspicion of failing to disclose information under the Terrorism Act 2000 remains on bail.
