An 18-year-old teenager is fighting for his life after being hit by a BMW on a street in the Midlands. Two other pedestrians, a man and a woman both in their 60s, were also seriously injured in the collision.
Incident Details
Emergency services were called to Linby Lane in Linby shortly before 9pm on Friday, June 5. The three pedestrians, who were reportedly walking on a footpath, were all taken to hospital. The teenager remains in a critical condition, while the older couple are also being treated for serious injuries.
Police Investigation
Nottinghamshire Police have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He remains in custody. Linby Lane was closed overnight between its junctions with Moor Road and Wighay Road while emergency services worked at the scene. The road reopened shortly before 8am on Saturday, June 6.
Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson from the force's serious collision investigation unit said: "This collision occurred on a busy stretch of road and we believe there will be a number of witnesses who may have seen the vehicle involved, a blue BMW, in the moments before the incident. If you can help, and have not yet spoken to an officer, please get in touch without delay. Likewise, any drivers who were in the area around this time should please get in touch if they have any relevant dashcam footage which could assist."
