Appeal for Witnesses After Campus Stabbing
A teenage boy has been left with what are believed to be life-changing injuries after a violent stabbing on the Aston University campus in Birmingham. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 22, at approximately 5:45pm in the Aston Triangle area, following a casual, social game of football.
The victim, a young man, was rushed to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, but police have confirmed the injuries are potentially life-altering.
Police Description of Suspect
Investigators from West Midlands Police have released a description of the suspected attacker and are urgently appealing for information. The suspect is described as a black male, aged between 18 and 20 years old. He was last seen wearing a grey Nike Tech tracksuit.
Authorities are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was present at the football match or in the vicinity at the time. They are also asking for anyone with mobile phone footage of the incident or its aftermath to come forward to assist with the investigation.
University and Community Response
Clare Gough, the Chief Student Officer at Aston University, expressed the institution's concern, stating: "Our thoughts are with our injured student at this difficult time and we wish them a full and speedy recovery."
She emphasised that the safety and wellbeing of students and staff is the university's highest priority and confirmed they are working closely with the police. Support services have been made available to any students or staff affected by the traumatic event.
