Police in Telford have launched a manhunt for a knifeman following a targeted attack that left a driver with minor injuries on a rural road.
Details of the Assault on Crudgington Road
The incident occurred at approximately 5:50 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026. The victim, a man in his 40s, was driving along the B5062 close to Crugtone Way in Crudgington when he pulled over. He was then approached by a man who had been driving a dark-coloured van.
The suspect opened the victim's car door and used a bladed article, inflicting minor injuries before fleeing the scene. The victim was subsequently taken to hospital for further treatment.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Detective Sergeant Steve Miller of West Mercia Police is leading the investigation. He moved to reassure the public, stating that initial enquiries suggest this was a deliberate, targeted assault rather than a random act.
Officers are working to identify the suspect, who is described as a black man, around 6ft tall, and wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack.
Police have issued a direct appeal for information. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or who may have dashcam footage capturing the incident or the dark van involved.
