A man described by police as a 'very dangerous individual' has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a rape that took place in Telford.
Guilty Verdict and Sentencing
Reaz Dixon, aged 20, of Vennington Walk in Shrewsbury, was found guilty of multiple sexual offences following a trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court. The court heard how Dixon confessed to the crime when he attended Malinsgate Police Station in January.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with four counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. While Dixon pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, he denied the other charges. However, a jury found him guilty of the remaining two counts of rape and both counts of assault by penetration.
On Friday, November 14, he appeared again at Shrewsbury Crown Court where he was handed a 15-year prison sentence.
Police Response and Victim Bravery
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Sam Fife, from Telford's protecting vulnerable people team, expressed his gratitude for the substantial sentence.
"I am very grateful for the sentence the judge has handed to Dixon, who is clearly a very dangerous individual," DC Fife stated. "I would like to commend his victim, who has been incredibly brave throughout this investigation. I hope the sentence can offer some form of closure and will enable them to move forward with their life."
