Three men have been arrested following a burglary in Dudley where a resident and a police officer were assaulted. The incident occurred on Grange Road shortly before 8am on Tuesday, June 2.
West Midlands Police received reports that a group had forced their way into a property and assaulted a resident inside. Officers arriving at the scene spotted the suspects fleeing and gave chase. During the arrest, an officer was also assaulted.
Two men, aged 42 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of burglary. A third man, aged 40, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, assault, and assaulting an emergency worker. Stolen items from the home have been recovered.
A police spokesperson stated: "We never tolerate any form of assault against our officers who work tirelessly to protect the public."
