Three arrests in Leicester city centre serious assault

Police in Leicester are continuing a major investigation after a violent attack in the city centre left a young man with life-threatening head injuries.

Attack Leaves Victim Fighting for Life

A man in his twenties remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital, one week after being seriously assaulted. Emergency services were called to Horsefair Street in Leicester at approximately 4:50 am on Sunday, 30 November, where they found the victim with severe injuries.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Detectives from Leicestershire Police's Complex Investigation Team (CIT) have made significant progress, arresting three men in connection with the incident. An initial arrest of a 20-year-old man was made, and he has since been released on police bail. Subsequently, two further men, aged 18 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and were questioned by officers.

However, the investigation is far from over. Detective Sergeant Adrian Davies, who is leading the inquiry, stated that officers believe several other people were involved or have information linked to the assault.

Direct Appeal for Information and Footage

DS Davies issued a direct plea to those individuals, urging them to "do the right thing" and contact police immediately. He emphasised the ongoing trauma for the victim's family, vowing that the investigation "will not stop until we get answers for the victim and his family."

Officers are conducting a thorough trawl of CCTV from the area and are keen to speak to anyone who was in Leicester city centre around the time of the early morning attack. Police are also making a specific appeal for any digital footage, including mobile phone recordings or dashcam video from vehicles in the vicinity of Horsefair Street.

Any piece of information, no matter how small it may seem, could prove vital to the ongoing investigation. The police have assured the public that all information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
