Woman quits UK after home pelted with eggs

A former police worker is being forced to abandon her life in Britain and return to Australia after becoming the victim of a sustained harassment campaign by teenage yobs who appear to have targeted her by mistake.

A Year-Long Nightmare of Harassment

Celine Lockyer, 60, described feeling "terrorised" in her own home in Sandpiper Close, Worcester, after a gang of teenagers singled out her mid-terrace property. The most severe incident occurred on Halloween, when her home was bombarded with eggs and tomatoes, followed by another attack the next day involving around a dozen eggs.

"I can't enjoy it. It's a nightmare here," Celine said. "I'm suffering from anxiety and stress and I'm on medication. It's constant." She recounted hearing a 'bashing' on the windows before discovering egg yolk smeared across the glass and walls of her property.

Escalating Attacks and Police Response

The trouble began in October last year and escalated over the summer when apples were thrown at her home. Alarmed, Celine took action by installing CCTV, which captured youths hurling apples into her garden. In a separate incident, a traffic cone was thrown over her fence.

In a desperate attempt to identify the perpetrators, she even visited her local Tesco store to try to obtain CCTV footage of the teenagers buying the eggs. She has compiled a 13-page dossier documenting the harassment.

Her landlady, Jill Mounce, who owns the £200,000 property, criticised the police response, stating she was "appalled" and that the situation was causing her sleepless nights. West Mercia Police confirmed they received a report of criminal damage on November 2 and that their investigation is ongoing.

Driven from Her Home

Originally from Malvern, Celine moved to Australia two decades ago but returned to Britain in 2017 to care for her mother, who suffered from Parkinson's and dementia and has since passed away.

Now, the relentless harassment has left her feeling she has no choice but to leave. "I feel like I'm under siege and being driven from my home," she confessed. "My dog is scared to go out in the garden. It's stressing me out and making me very unhappy."

Believing the attacks are a case of mistaken identity, Celine stated, "I can only think that whoever is responsible believes someone else lives here. I have no other explanation for what is happening. I am at the end of my tether."

Following the most recent attacks, she has booked her ticket to return to Australia. "I've had enough," she said. "The last year has been hell and I want to put it all behind me. I'm worried that it will escalate and it is really affecting my health."
