A new inclusive play area is currently under construction at Lickey Hills Country Park, and families with children are sure to be delighted. The exciting development is being built near the visitor centre and cafe, close to the border between Birmingham and Worcestershire.
Opening Date and Features
The new and improved play area has an estimated completion date of July 2026. Authorised plans reveal a range of attractions, including a rocking boat, tall swings, and a circular basket swing. The junior area will feature an adventure lookout tower, climbing access challenge, twisted net, balancing rope bridge, and slide.
Other highlights include a climbing wall, banister bars, lookout binoculars over Lickey Hills, a racking plank bridge, overhead ladder, and a double hammock socialising space. A toddler adventure zone will offer a cascading bridge, two-way talk tubes, a crawl-through shop window, and an infant steel slide.
Background and Construction
The existing play area was deemed "not fit for purpose" and had suffered from regular flooding. Public consultation took place in March 2025, with initial hopes for completion last autumn. However, work is now underway, with a digger and heavy roller spotted at the construction site this week.
