New artist impressions have revealed the design of a new pavilion building at King George V Playing Fields in Bloxwich, as part of a major regeneration scheme. The demolition of the original pavilion started in April 2026 and has now been completed.
Project Details
The works, partly funded by the Bloxwich Town Deal, include new sports pitches, flood lighting, additional parking, a play area, and an outdoor gym. The new pavilion will house a cafe, community events space, toilets, and changing rooms. The project is expected to be completed in 2027 and is being carried out by contractor Interclass.
Community Impact
Deputy leader and portfolio holder for regeneration at Walsall Council, Councillor Nicky Barker, said: “It’s encouraging to see this vision for King George V Playing Fields progressing. I’m looking forward to seeing the works completed and the pavilion reopened as a welcoming space for the community. These improvements have the potential to enhance the park’s offer and provide opportunities for people to come together, stay active, and enjoy their local area.”
Des O’Neill, managing director at Interclass Plc, added: “We’re pleased to report excellent progress on site, with the demolition of the existing pavilion now complete, marking a significant milestone and a clear step forward as the project moves into its next phase. The team is now gearing up for the foundations and main build, with key groundworks and infrastructure well underway across the site.”
The regeneration aims to transform the park into a modern community hub, providing enhanced facilities for sports, leisure, and social gatherings.
