Community Rallies to Honour Young Mum
A heartbreaking fundraiser has been launched for a young mother who tragically lost her life on a street in Oldbury. Lily Whitehouse, who was just 19 years old, is remembered by her heartbroken family as being 'full of light, laughter, and kindness'.
Tragic Discovery in Park Street
Lily was found with serious injuries on Park Street in Oldbury at approximately 9.50pm on Wednesday, November 5. Despite the immediate efforts of emergency medical services, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a subsequent development, Mohammed Azim, 41, of Tividale Road in Tipton, was charged with her murder. He appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on the morning of Monday, November 10, where a plea and trial preparation hearing was scheduled for December 16.
A Final Farewell and a Future for Her Child
To support Lily's grieving family, a GoFundMe page has been created with a target of £2,000. A relative established the page, stating the goal is to give Lily 'the farewell she deserves'.
An emotional post on the fundraising site reads: 'On Wednesday, November 5, our beautiful Lily Whitehouse was tragically taken from us at just 19 years old. Lily was full of light, laughter, and kindness. She had so many dreams ahead of her.'
The message continues, explaining that the family is seeking justice for Lily while also honouring her memory. The funds raised will primarily cover funeral and memorial expenses. Any remaining money will be placed into a trust fund for her baby, ensuring Lily's love continues to provide for her child in the future.
The local community has shown an outpouring of grief, with numerous floral tributes left at the scene on Park Street. One touching note attached to a bouquet read: 'Such a beautiful soul, taken away too soon. You will be missed by all. Sleep in paradise, beautiful.' Another simply stated: 'May you rest in peace. Gone too soon.'
