The Traitors' First Murdered Star Netty Breaks Silence on BBC Show Exit
The Traitors' Netty breaks silence on being first murdered

The first contestant to be 'murdered' in the latest series of BBC's hit show The Traitors has broken her silence, admitting she was 'gutted' but has no regrets about her brief time in the game.

'Gutted' Reaction to the Murder Letter

Nursery school teacher Netty, a 42-year-old single mum, was shocked to discover the letter informing her she had been assassinated by the Traitors. 'Oh no! I'm so gutted, I think I'd have been a very good Faithful. Maybe I was too loud,' she exclaimed upon reading her fate.

Reflecting on her strategy, Netty conceded she might have lasted longer by staying quiet. 'Originally, I said I'll observe and see what's going on, but I absolutely did not stick to it,' she lamented. 'I was like 'what do you think?' to everyone and 'this is what I think'.'

Friendship and Overthinking

Netty also addressed her unexpected reunion with an old friend, Ross, whom she hadn't seen for years. She laughed off the idea that their connection led to her murder, saying, 'I don't think I even remembered his name!'

However, Ross has since revealed that her enthusiastic hug when they met at the castle made their past obvious. He believes this has made him a target, as other players fear they are working as a pair.

No Regrets After Bittersweet Exit

Despite her premature departure on 2 January 2026, Netty characterised the experience as 'bittersweet'. 'I didn't have the time that I had hoped to have, but I think I've had the time I was meant to have,' she told the Mirror.

She expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity, which she had hoped would win her prize money to travel the world with her daughter. 'It's been one of the most enjoyable experiences,' she said. 'It's a large group of people that I would never have crossed paths with in my life.'

Netty also shared that while she initially wanted to be a Traitor, she found being a Faithful more relaxing. Her standout moment was participating in a rowing mission involving 100 coffins, which she described as 'really good fun' and a bonding experience for the group.

In conclusion, Netty leaves the show with a positive outlook, hopeful that lasting friendships will grow from the experience and happy she did something for herself.
