Charges and Custody

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of multiple offences, including:

  • Failing to stop for police
  • Driving whilst disqualified
  • Possession of an offensive weapon
  • Possession of Class B drugs

Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife. Both men remain in police custody for questioning as investigations continue into the full circumstances of the incident.

In an official statement, West Midlands Police said: "Two men have been arrested after we recovered two knives and Class B drugs from a vehicle in Birmingham city centre. In the early hours of this morning, a black Mercedes failed to stop for police and drove on the wrong side of the road. The vehicle came to a stop on Broad Street in the city centre where the occupants tried to run from officers. However, we caught up with them and detained two men. Following searches, two knives and a quantity of cannabis was also recovered."
