Thousands of state pensioners in Derbyshire are receiving letters this month informing them of a new one-off £110 Cost of Living payment. The financial support comes from the latest allocation of the government's Household Support Fund, administered by Derbyshire County Council.
Who is Eligible for the £110 Voucher?
The local authority has confirmed that the vouchers are being sent via post to specific groups. Eligible households received a letter in November 2025 containing a Post Office voucher worth £110.
The primary recipients are pensioners aged over 66 who are entitled to means-tested council tax support. Furthermore, the scheme extends to adults who receive home care support from the council and are on a low income.
"Letters will be sent out throughout November and early December," stated a council spokesperson. They urged anyone who believes they are eligible but has not received a letter by early December to make contact. The dedicated helpline for queries is 01629 535070.
Further Support Planned for Early 2026
This is not the only wave of support planned. The council has outlined a further distribution of grocery vouchers scheduled for around January 2026. This next phase will target vulnerable families and young people, including:
- Children who receive benefit-related free school meals.
- Eligible 2-year-olds in nurseries and pre-schools receiving funded childcare.
- 3 and 4-year-olds who receive the early years pupil premium.
- Care leavers aged 21 and under who are living independently.
Broader Help Available Through the Fund
The Household Support Fund grant, provided by the Department for Work and Pensions, is available for use until 31 March 2026. It enables a wide range of support across the county.
District and borough councils have been given funds to assist residents with council tax and rent arrears, as well as homelessness and temporary housing costs where other schemes cannot help.
Furthermore, grants have been awarded to local voluntary organisations. Their role is to identify and provide aid to hard-to-reach pensioners, isolated individuals, and unpaid carer households facing hardship.
For households in immediate financial difficulty, the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund offers direct applications for help with food and energy costs. Households can access up to two awards within a 12-month period, with payments set at £65 per household, plus an extra £15 for each partner or spouse and each dependent child.
