Former Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has shared a deeply emotional tribute to her late son Archie, marking what would have been his 17th birthday. The actress, who lost Archie when he was stillborn at 21 weeks in February 2009, expressed that "the pain never subsides" as she reflected on nearly two decades without her son.
A Mother's Enduring Grief
In a heartfelt social media post, Marsh wrote: "17 years without you. 17 years of missing you. 17 years of pain that never subsides." She continued: "My son. My beautiful boy. Every year I try to think of something new to write, but I just come back to the same thing."
The actress, who shares Archie with ex-husband Jamie Lomas, poignantly wondered what her son's life might have been like, writing: "We miss you. I wonder what you would have been doing on this birthday and how we would be celebrating? I wish we could."
Cherished Memories and Family Connections
Marsh described Archie as "the missing piece of my heart" and shared that her family would celebrate his memory and "those precious moments we had." She added a touching reference to her father, saying: "I know grandad moustache will be with you. Give him a big kiss and cuddle for us."
The tribute concluded with: "I love you so much Archie. Always and forever. My beautiful boy, forever our angel. 11.02.09."
Advocacy and Awareness
Since Archie's passing, Marsh has become a prominent voice in raising awareness about baby loss and reducing the stigma surrounding pregnancy loss. In 2011, she welcomed daughter Polly with Lomas, describing her as a "rainbow baby" following the storm of loss.
The actress has actively supported charity efforts for research into premature birth and welcomed the introduction of baby loss certificates in England in 2024. These certificates allow parents to formally recognize children lost before 24 weeks of pregnancy, providing official acknowledgment of their loss.
Family Life and Support Networks
Marsh also has two older children - son David and daughter Emilie - from her previous relationship with Dave Cunliffe. Her journey through grief has been shared publicly as part of her commitment to supporting others experiencing similar losses.
For those affected by baby loss, organizations like Sands provide crucial support. The stillbirth and neonatal death charity offers:
