A university law student has been jailed after secretly filming more than 460 men and boys in toilets across Birmingham. Troy Green, aged 22, recorded victims using urinals at locations including Grand Central station, Rush trampoline park, churches, bars, and a university campus.
Disturbing Snapchat manipulation
Green also targeted children on Snapchat, persuading them to perform twisted dares that involved exposing themselves. He used an alias to manipulate minors into removing their clothing and filming themselves. One video showed a boy of around 14 taking a shower.
Arrest and evidence
Green was first arrested on February 21 last year after an allegation he was filming in university toilets. Police found over 500 videos on his devices, capturing 465 different males without their knowledge. CCTV from Rush trampoline park showed him following a 10-year-old boy into the toilets before filming him.
Confrontation at Birmingham Airport
In August, Green was confronted by a man who believed he was being filmed in the toilets at the Wetherspoon pub in Birmingham Airport, where Green worked. An altercation ensued, and a security guard was alerted. No images were found, but it is suspected Green deleted them.
Guilty plea and sentencing
Green pleaded guilty to two charges of voyeurism, one count of attempted voyeurism, and four offences of making or taking indecent images of children. At Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Heidi Kubik sentenced him to 22 months in prison, stating the manipulation of children on Snapchat made the case too serious for a suspended sentence.
Green, from Vicarage Road, Soho, was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and sex offender notification requirements for ten years. A psychological report found no mental health disorders, but his defence barrister noted emotional regulation issues.
