MAFS Australia Groom Chris Robinson Reveals Emotional Surrogacy Journey

Married At First Sight Australia star Chris Robinson has shared a heartbreaking update on his journey to fatherhood, describing it as a bittersweet experience filled with both joy and sorrow. The 38-year-old gym owner and farmer from New South Wales entered the reality TV experiment with the dream of finding love and starting a family, but his path has been marked by unexpected twists.

A Dream of Fatherhood

Before joining MAFS Australia, Chris Robinson had already taken significant steps toward building his family. In his introductory segment, he revealed to cameras that he was expecting two children: one through sperm donation for a close friend and another via surrogacy. This news came as a surprise to his new husband, Sammy Stanton, 34, who was unaware he was marrying a soon-to-be father.

Despite the initial shock, Sammy, a spin instructor and fitness trainer from Adelaide, embraced Chris's journey with open arms. He expressed his support, stating, "It's not going to affect me wanting to date with you or be with you." Sammy also shared his own desire for children in the future, though he admitted he wasn't ready for "kids next year." Their relationship, now involving two children, left fans eager to see how it would unfold.

Joy and Heartbreak

The positive aspect of Chris's journey came in late 2025 when the lesbian couple he donated sperm to welcomed a baby girl. His daughter arrived just one day after his wedding to Sammy, bringing immense joy. In a recent interview, Chris gushed about his first biological child, saying, "I love her so much and I get really emotional when I talk about her – it’s happening right now, I’ll try to contain it – I just love her so much, she’s got me wrapped around her little finger. It’s the best."

However, the surrogacy journey for his second child, expected with a woman in Colombia, took a tragic turn. During filming, Chris experienced a devastating loss. He explained to PEDESTRIAN.TV, "Unfortunately whilst I was filming, there was a bit of an issue around my surrogate journey. We had a couple of embryos and the surrogate unfortunately lost one of them, so it was a bit of a sad moment."

Coping with Challenges

This heartbreaking event made Chris's time on MAFS Australia even more difficult. He added, "The experiment is so tough in itself. You’re dealing with so much and there’s a lot of emotions, so obviously that was pretty hard to process especially in the environment as well. So it’s been tough, but I’ve pushed through it." His resilience in the face of personal tragedy has highlighted the emotional complexities of his journey to fatherhood.

Chris Robinson's story underscores the highs and lows of modern family-building, blending moments of pure happiness with profound sorrow. As he continues to navigate this path, his openness about the challenges offers a raw and relatable glimpse into the realities of surrogacy and parenthood in the public eye.
