Botanical Gardens Host Artisan Market and Yoga Sessions

Birmingham's Historic Botanical Gardens Unveil New Artisan Market and Yoga Experiences

Birmingham's picturesque Botanical Gardens, a cherished 200-year-old attraction, are introducing two compelling new reasons for residents and visitors to explore their grounds. Starting in early May, the gardens will host an expanded artisan market with a festival atmosphere and launch a series of outdoor yoga sessions, including a unique Dawn Chorus event that honors a tradition originating in the city.

Artisan Market Transforms into a Spring Festival

The Artisan Market returns to the Botanical Gardens on Westbourne Road in Edgbaston on Saturday, May 2, coinciding with the bank holiday weekend. This edition promises to be larger and more immersive, with the market extending beyond the indoor halls into the outdoor gardens, creating a relaxed, festival-like environment. Attendees can expect a vibrant mix of talented artisans, live music, diverse street food, and spring-themed vibes throughout the space.

Inside, two halls will be packed with skilled makers, while outside, visitors can roam and discover various attractions. Music will be provided by Leftfoot, who will deliver a DJ set from the bandstand. Additionally, the team behind the popular Brum Foodie Podcast, Breaking Bread, will conduct interviews on-site. A stretch tent, hosted by Medicine Bakery, will offer drinks, and Birmingham artist Tat Vision, known from ITV's Britain's Got Talent, will lead hands-on craft sessions for children, making it a family-friendly event.

Street food vendors include Smoke and Ash, Hawker Dan, Platinum Pancakes, and Steak Bites, along with offerings from Medicine Cafe. Early bird tickets are currently available at half price, encouraging early participation.

Outdoor Yoga Sessions Connect with Nature

In partnership with I AM YOGI, a local yoga business with two studios in Birmingham, the Botanical Gardens will resume outdoor yoga and sound bath experiences starting May 9. A highlight is the special Annual Dawn Chorus experience, scheduled to celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day on the first Sunday in May. This day, which began in Birmingham in 1987 when wildlife broadcaster Chris Baines invited friends to listen to birdsong at Moseley Bog, focuses on nature's symphony at its peak.

The I AM YOGI session features a guided outdoor yoga flow at sunrise, followed by exclusive early access to wander the gardens and immerse in the dawn chorus. Organizers describe it as a meaningful way to connect with nature in the city's heart and celebrate a local tradition. Tickets for these yoga sessions are now available, offering a serene escape in an urban setting.

These new initiatives aim to enhance the Botanical Gardens' appeal, providing engaging activities that blend culture, wellness, and community spirit in one of Birmingham's oldest attractions.
