Colin Magee, a dedicated sailing coach hailing from Burbage in Leicestershire, has been honoured with an MBE in a ceremony at Windsor Castle, presided over by Princess Anne earlier this month. In 1967, Colin played a pivotal role in co-founding the Leicestershire Youth Sailing Association, an initiative born out of a desire to provide sailing opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds who were unable to afford membership at private clubs. What began as a modest endeavour has since flourished into a thriving organisation that welcomes a diverse range of participants.

Over the years, the association has broadened its reach to include not only children but also adults with disabilities, students facing learning difficulties, cadet groups, and various schools.
