A leading East Midlands homelessness charity is calling on professionals to lend their expertise and help shape its vital work. Framework, which supports thousands of people each year, is recruiting several new voluntary board members to guide its strategy and governance.
An Opportunity to Drive Lasting Social Change
The charity is specifically seeking individuals with a background in housing or a formal finance or accounting qualification. Framework operates more than 70 services across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Sheffield. Each year, it provides support to over 18,000 people and offers accommodation to more than 1,300 individuals at any given time.
Successful applicants will share the organisation's core values and possess a strong social conscience. They will have the chance to meet directly with service users, witnessing first-hand the impact of the charity's work in providing housing, health, employment and support services.
Navigating Challenges with Strong Governance
Claire McGonigle, Chief Executive Officer of Framework, emphasised the critical role of the Board. "The homelessness and housing sector faces significant pressures, but also opportunities to be brave in how we tackle the societal challenges of poverty and exclusion," she said.
"Strong governance is key to that ambition, and our Board plays a vital role in shaping strategy, ensuring our resources are used to deliver the best impact," McGonigle added. The Board is responsible for the charity's overall direction, financial resilience and ensuring the voices of those needing support are heard.
Rewarding Experience for Committed Individuals
Current board members have spoken about the profound rewards of the role. Catherine Arkley explained her motivation for joining: "I felt this was a way to apply my experience and knowledge towards something worthwhile. The additional services of health, employment, support and care provided service users with a springboard to make lasting changes to their lives."
Fellow board member Holly Dagnall noted the commitment required but highlighted the fulfilment it brings. "It takes time and commitment to be a good board member - but it is so rewarding to be able to be a part of such a great organisation doing great things to end homelessness," she said.
The Board meets at Framework's central office in Nottingham, but applications are welcomed from across all the regions where the charity operates. Individuals interested in applying for these voluntary board positions must submit their applications by the deadline of Monday, February 2.
