In a moving ceremony that highlighted the incredible dedication of coastal community heroes, Penarth's RNLI station has officially honoured three exceptional volunteers who have collectively devoted more than six decades to saving lives at sea.
Decades of Selfless Service
The recent event saw heartfelt tributes paid to Roger Davis, David Stroud, and Nick Wellstead - three stalwarts whose unwavering commitment has been instrumental in countless rescue operations along the Welsh coastline.
Roger Davis, who joined the RNLI in 2002, has been recognised for his remarkable 21-year tenure. During this period, he served as both crew member and deputy launching authority, playing a crucial role in coordinating emergency responses and ensuring the station's operational readiness.

David Stroud's journey with the lifeboat institution spans an impressive 23 years, beginning in 2000. His versatility saw him excel in multiple capacities, from skilled crew member to knowledgeable shore helper, demonstrating the diverse skill set required for effective maritime rescue operations.
Completing this trio of heroes is Nick Wellstead, whose 19-year service since 2004 included vital roles as both crew member and deputy launching authority. Each volunteer brought unique strengths to the team, creating a formidable force for coastal safety.
