A volunteering role at a popular Midlands sporting event has led to a heartwarming romance for a local resident. Megan Exsteen, from Coalville, met her partner David while they were working together as course marshals last spring. The couple quickly formed a deep bond after spending the weekend helping runners navigate the muddy obstacle course.
From Marshals to Participants
Now, the happy pair are preparing to return to the event together as participants on June 13, 2026 and June 14, 2026. Megan will be tackling the challenges for the first time alongside David, who has already completed 15 previous events.
A Chance Encounter
David said: “We just clicked straight away. Without that moment, we would never have found each other.” The couple have also built a close circle of lasting friendships with other runners they met through the community.
Thousands of people take part in the obstacle-filled course each year by running, walking and working together in groups. The upcoming weekend event at Stanford Hall will also feature a lively village filled with food and music for spectators.
David added: “You don’t go along expecting to meet someone, but sometimes it changes everything.” Final entries for the summer event can be booked online by visiting the official Wolf Run website.
