Aston Villa's Teddie Bloomfield signs pro deal

Aston Villa have secured the future of one of their most promising young defenders, Teddie Bloomfield, who has signed his first professional contract with the Premier League club.

From Ipswich to Villa

The club confirmed the significant step in a official statement, marking a key milestone for the 17-year-old attack-minded left-back. Bloomfield originally joined Villa's academy from Ipswich Town in 2022, with reports at the time suggesting a transfer fee of around £100,000.

His move from the Tractor Boys coincided with Villa's recruitment of coaches Adem Atay and Gerrard Nash. Having initially signed a two-year scholarship upon his arrival as a 14-year-old, Bloomfield has now officially transitioned to the professional ranks at Bodymoor Heath.

Rapid Development and Leadership

Bloomfield has been a consistent performer across Villa's youth setup. He featured heavily for the Under-18s side that secured a historic treble last season and has continued his development this campaign.

His impressive form has seen him earn minutes in Premier League 2, the Vertu Trophy, and the UEFA Youth League. Demonstrating his leadership qualities, the defender has also captained Richard Beale's Under-18s side, showcasing his importance to the academy structure.

Academy Delight at Progression

Academy manager Mark Harrison expressed his delight at the new deal, telling the club's official website: "We are delighted that Teddie has signed his first professional contract. This is great recognition for his hard work and performances over the last 12 months."

Harrison went on to detail Bloomfield's playing style, describing him as "an attacking left full-back who has great energy and desire to make an impact on the game. He enjoys getting forward, as well as being aggressive as a defender."

He also highlighted the player's rapid progression, noting that "At 17, he has played for both the Under-19s team in the UEFA Youth League and Under-21s team this season, and done well." The club now eagerly anticipates his continued development in the coming seasons.
