Birmingham City Fans to Honor Paul Pike with Good Friday Walk of Respect
Birmingham City fans are organizing a heartfelt walk of respect for teenage supporter Paul Pike, whose body was discovered after he went missing. The 18-year-old from Kings Heath was last seen outside Pride Park stadium on Saturday, March 21, where he had traveled to watch Blues play Derby County.
Community Response and Search Efforts
Following a major search involving fans from both clubs, police confirmed that a body, believed to be Paul's, was found on Sunday, March 29. In response, fellow supporters have planned a march from the St Anne's club in Alcester Street, Digbeth, to St Andrew's Stadium ahead of the Good Friday home game against Blackburn Rovers.
On social media, Blues Collective posted details of the event, stating: "On Friday, April 3, we ask all Blues fans, or anyone who knew Paul, to join our walk of respect. From St Anne's Club on Alcester Street, Digbeth, at 1.30pm. If you can't meet at this point, feel free to join the group from the McDonald's island at 1.45pm. We will be laying a wreath outside the Trevor Francis statue in front of our main reception. Rest in eternal peace, our mate Paul Pike."
Fundraiser and Support for the Family
The march comes after a fundraiser was launched to help cover funeral costs for the teenager, highlighting the community's solidarity and support during this tragic time. Fans and locals are encouraged to participate in the walk to pay their respects and show support for Paul's family and friends.
This tribute underscores the strong bonds within the Birmingham City fan community, as they come together to honor a young life lost too soon. The event aims to provide a space for mourning and remembrance, reflecting the deep impact Paul had on those around him.
