Lincoln Darts Academy Expands as Vital Youth Hub with New Community Interest Company
The Lincoln Darts Academy has established itself as a crucial community space for young people to connect and compete, responding to the rapid growth of the city's only dedicated resource for youth darts players. Interest in the academy has surged significantly over recent months, and this momentum continues to build without any signs of slowing down.
Formation of a Community Interest Company
In response to this growth, the academy's coaches have formed a Community Interest Company (CIC). This not-for-profit organisation operates with an asset lock, ensuring that all income generated is reinvested directly back into the company. This financial structure guarantees that any funds raised for the academy benefit the children and the environment in which they play, fostering a sustainable and supportive setting for youth development.
Addressing Isolation and Building Community
At a time when many children and young adults may feel isolated or hopeless, the expanding academy offers a vital place for them to meet and grow. It brings together individuals around a fantastic group of people, all while enjoying the game of darts. This initiative not only promotes physical activity but also enhances social connections and personal development among participants.
Future Plans for an Inclusive Venue
A spokesperson for the academy highlighted their ambitious vision: "Our ambition is to create our own venue that not only supports youth darts but will be large enough to support all aspects of darts across the city and wider areas. In addition to the academy, we would like to host ADC and JDC vaults events, local tournaments, and, venue dependent, wheelchair darts."
The spokesperson added: "As far as we are aware, there is nowhere local that offers individuals with physical disabilities the opportunity to play the sport we all love. We are currently in the planning stage of creating this venue, and any support is greatly appreciated. You could directly help grow the academy and provide local children the opportunity they all deserve."
Fundraising and Current Operations
To support these efforts, there will be a 12-hour darts marathon to raise funds for the academy. Currently, the academy operates from the Civil Defence Club at LN5 7RU in Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
