The Derby Print Open, an annual printmaking exhibition featuring contemporary artwork from across the United Kingdom, has officially opened its doors in Derby. This year's event showcases more than 300 shortlisted submissions from printmakers nationwide, spanning four separate local venues to recreate a popular city-wide print trail.
Exhibition Venues and Opening Times
Art enthusiasts can view the pieces at Banks Mill Studios on Bridge Street, the newly established Chapel Street Arts Centre, The Smallprint Company on Friary Street, and the Tubo Gift Shop on Sadler Gate. Opening hours vary across the locations: Banks Mill Studios welcomes visitors daily from 11am to 3pm, except Tuesdays; Chapel Street Arts Centre is open Monday to Saturday; while the independent shops operate on selected weekdays and Saturdays.
Organisers' Vision and Community Impact
Organisers hope the trail will inform, inspire, and invigorate the local creative community while developing the city's cultural potential. Anna Johnson of Green Door Printmaking Studio expressed her delight: "We are overjoyed with the positive response to this year's Derby Print Open! The continuing support from printmakers and creative businesses to help showcase the very best of work being produced in the UK is not only exciting but also very endearing! I also wish to thank the other venues for their generosity in hosting and hope that everyone looks forward to, not only this year's, but to other, future Derby Print Opens. Enjoy!"
Purchasing Prints and Catalogue
All exhibited prints are available to buy framed or unframed through the official Derby Print Open website. A special hard-backed exhibition catalogue featuring all the shortlisted prints is also available for purchase online.
