This Morning star Alison Hammond is set to host the ITV revival of the iconic music game show Name That Tune, describing it as a 'full circle moment'.
New Role for TV Favourite
The Birmingham-born presenter will front the rebooted format, which sees contestants compete in quick-fire rounds testing their musical knowledge across genres. Each round culminates in the simple challenge: name that tune.
Hammond, a self-confessed music lover, said: 'As a massive music lover, my biggest challenge as a host will be trying not to grab the mic and start singing along when one of my all-time favourite tunes comes on! And trust me... that will take serious self control! I grew up absolutely loving the original show so being part of this now feels like a real full circle moment.'
What to Expect
The new series will feature the Name That Tune band, musicians who have performed with global stars like Adele and the Spice Girls. They will perform live before a studio audience, adding a unique electric style to the show.
Hammond added: 'I cannot wait to get into the studio, put the contestants through their paces, and see who really knows their music. And let me tell you, being joined by the super-talented Name That Tune band, who'll be belting out some of the biggest songs on the planet in their own unique, electric style... oh, it's going to be next level. Bigger, louder, and more feel-good than ever this is going to be EPIC!'
History of the Show
Name That Tune is adapted from the successful US format. A previous British version aired from 1976 to 1987, hosted by Tom O'Connor and later Lionel Blair. The revival is part of ITV's trend of bringing back classic shows with new presenters, including Bullseye with Freddie Flintoff and Wheel of Fortune with Graham Norton.
Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's director of entertainment, reality and daytime, said: 'Name That Tune is such an iconic brand we are excited to be bringing this refreshed global format to the UK audience. It's a fun family series that not only sees contestants challenged in the studio, but viewers can play along with all the family, providing a unique playlist that spans generations.'
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
