Strictly Come Dancing viewers were moved to tears as contestant George Clarke shared the deeply personal inspiration for his upcoming performance on the BBC show.
A Personal Tribute
Following his survival in Sunday night's results show, the YouTuber and podcast host revealed to presenter Claudia Winkleman that his next dance would hold special significance for his family.
George explained that he'd chosen to dance to Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know' because his sister had performed the same song at their grandfather's funeral.
"The only song I said was 'Somewhere Only We Know' because my sister sang it at my grandad's funeral and I know it means a lot to my family," George shared emotionally.
He added: "And we've had various troubles throughout the years, so to have something that will be a nice thing to give to them."
Fan Reaction
The heartfelt revelation immediately sparked an emotional response from Strictly fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
One viewer wrote: "Oh i'm going to be BAWLING at George's dance next week."
Another echoed the sentiment, stating: "George's dance next week is gonna make me absolutely SOB i'm not ready."
A third fan added: "George clarke the man you are, he's going to dance to somewhere only we know for his family next week. already sobbing."
Current Competition Standing
George and his professional dance partner Alexis Warr secured their place in the next round after performing a Viennese Waltz to Queen's 'Somebody to Love'.
The couple achieved joint fifth place on the leaderboard with 34 points for their latest effort.
Head judge Shirley Ballas praised George's performance, declaring he was 'back with a bang' and showcasing 'some of the best footwork I've seen' in the competition.
Fellow judge Anton Du Beke agreed the footwork was 'immaculate' and noted that 'we felt the emotion' throughout the routine.
However, Craig Revel Horwood offered a contrasting opinion, stating: "I disagree, the footwork not perfect for me." He criticised what he perceived as 'too much rise and fall' and described the performance as feeling 'skippy'.
Despite the mixed feedback from judges, the pair successfully avoided elimination and will now prepare for their emotionally charged routine to Keane's classic track.
