Celine Dion's Heartfelt Tribute Marks 10 Years Since Husband's Death
Celine Dion's Tribute on 10th Anniversary of Husband's Death

Global music icon Celine Dion has shared a deeply moving tribute to her late husband, René Angélil, on the sombre occasion of the tenth anniversary of his death.

A Decade of Grief and Love

The 57-year-old Canadian singer marked the heartbreaking milestone by posting a poignant photograph of her beloved partner on Instagram. The image was placed atop a piano, a fitting nod to his distinguished career in the music industry as her former talent manager and producer.

In a caption accompanying the bittersweet portrait, the mother-of-three expressed the enduring pain she and their sons continue to feel. René Angélil passed away on 14th January 2016 at the age of 73, following a long and courageous fight against throat cancer.

"Mon amour, ten years without you feels like just a day, and yet each day feels like a decade…" Dion wrote. "Ten years without your caress, and yet every day I feel your touch… We miss you more than we can bear, but you taught us to be strong. We love you more, every day and every year." She signed the message from herself and their three sons: "Céline, RC, Nelson and Eddy xx."

A Love Story Forged in Music

The couple's enduring romance began professionally. Dion first auditioned for Angélil in 1980 when she was just 12 years old. Their relationship blossomed years later, with their first date occurring when Celine was 19. They kept their romance private for six years before going public.

The pair were engaged and then married in a lavish ceremony in Montréal, Canada in December 1994, embarking on a marriage that would last for over 21 years. Together they welcomed three sons: René-Charles, born in 2001, and twin boys Nelson and Eddy, born in 2010.

Sacrifice and Loss

Celine Dion famously put her stellar career on hold twice to care for her husband during his health battles. She took a two-year break starting in 1999 after he was first diagnosed with throat cancer. After a period of recovery, the cancer returned in 2014, prompting another hiatus from the chart-topping singer.

Despite these efforts, Angélil sadly died at his home in Las Vegas, just two days before what would have been his 74th birthday. At the time of his passing, their eldest son René-Charles was 15, and the twins were only five years old.

A family spokesperson announced the news at the time, stating he had passed away "after a long and courageous battle against cancer" and requesting privacy for the grieving family.

Dion's tribute underscores a profound and lasting love, demonstrating that even a decade later, the loss of her soulmate and manager remains a defining part of her life.
