With the fourth episode of The Traitors series three just hours away, a former contestant has broken his silence to name the individual he believes is secretly working against the Faithful. Paul Gorton, the cunning 38-year-old traitor from the show's second series, has given his exclusive verdict on the mysterious 'Secret Traitor'.
Paul Gorton's Top Suspect for the Secret Traitor
Speaking on behalf of Which Bingo, Paul Gorton shared his detailed predictions mere hours before the nation tunes into BBC One. The tech expert, who famously clashed with winner Harry Clark before his banishment in episode eight, believes the producers have selected a woman for the clandestine role.
"I think it's a woman because I think they'll do two men and two women," Gorton stated. He pinpointed three potential candidates from the current cast: Amanda, Fiona, and Ellie. However, he placed his strongest bet on one in particular.
"My money is on Amanda," he declared, referencing the former Detective Chief Inspector. He found her motivation, revealed in a conversation with host Claudia Winkleman, particularly telling. "She, in the most macabre way in the world, said to Claudia 'I spent so long fighting crime and being good, and I want to be bad. Like a Batman villain.'"
Analysing the Evidence Against Amanda
Gorton elaborated on why Amanda stands out as the prime suspect. He highlighted her composed demeanour and a seemingly innocuous early exchange with fellow contestant Hugo. "She had that really early conversation with Hugo when she said, 'I don't have the weight on my shoulders of being a traitor,' as if to say, 'I know that you do have that weight on your shoulder.'"
He painted a vivid picture of the potential drama, adding: "My God, when Amanda, if it was Amanda, walked into that turret to meet Rachel and Stephen, deary me, that would be bananas." Gorton also speculated that host Claudia Winkleman would have "loved" Amanda's compelling pitch to be a traitor.
Other Potential Candidates in the Frame
Paul Gorton didn't rule out the other women, however. He suggested that Fiona, the 62-year-old local government officer beloved by viewers, might be playing a clever game. He pointed to her articulate put-down of Hugo before his banishment and her telling final words: "people shouldn't underestimate ladies of my age."
"She's playing that character," Gorton observed, "which makes me think, are you actually a secret traitor?"
His final suspect was Ellie, whom he described as a ghostly presence in the castle. "Ellie is in every scene, but she's not in any of the scenes... she's always kind of like slinking around like a ghost or a secret traitor," he noted. Crucially, he recalled that she was the one who uttered the phrase "secret traitor," a combination of words he believes no other contestant has used.
As households across Britain prepare to watch episode four on Tuesday night, Paul Gorton's insights provide a fascinating layer of speculation. Fans will soon discover whether his expert analysis as a former traitor proves correct, or if the Secret Traitor has managed to outfox one of the show's most iconic players.
