The Traitors contestant Stephen Libby has moved fans by revealing the deeply personal story behind the distinctive gold glasses he wears on the hit BBC show. The 32-year-old cyber security expert, noted for his sharp fashion sense and dramatic reactions, explained that the frames are a cherished family heirloom.
A Sentimental Heirloom
In a heartfelt social media post, Libby disclosed that the circular, gold-framed spectacles originally belonged to his late grandfather. After his grandfather passed away, Stephen was determined to keep the glasses in use. He had new lenses fitted into the vintage frames so he could continue their story.
The optician who worked on the glasses suggested they could date as far back as the 1920s. "It feels like a real privilege to be able to continue their story," Stephen wrote, expressing his honour at wearing such a historic and meaningful item on national television.

However, he survived the latest banishment, which saw secret detective Amanda ejected from the castle despite being a Faithful. The tense round table ended in a deadlock between Amanda and fellow Faithful Reece Ward. Host Claudia Winkleman resolved the impasse with a dramatic game of chance involving two boxes, only one of which contained a protective shield.
Amanda failed to pick the box with the shield and was subsequently banished. Reflecting on her dramatic exit, she said: "What a dramatic way to go... It was totally nerve-wracking. You just try to keep it together, really." Her departure marks the seventh player to leave the competition.
